What if My Only Success Was You?

What if my only success in life was to inspire you?
To show you possibilities.
To give you the courage to overcome fear.
What if my only success in life was to help you become successful.  Would it be worth it?
Absolutely.

My heart soared when you posted your first blog post.  I knew how much it took for you to take that giant step.  I was the proudest mom in the world.  My heart soared, and I was free.  We were free.  We were no longer bound by the opinion of others, and no longer afraid to act.  At that moment every endeavor I had was a success, because it gave you a vision of what could be, and when that caused you to act, I knew I had arrived.

What if my only success in life was to inspire you?
To prepare you for a great adventure.
To support your dreams and goals.
What if my success was your success?  Would it be worth it?
Absolutely.

When you signed up for the Navy my heart was proud.  You were going to travel the world, experience new things, and meet great people.  You would protect our country, and your career would give you the opportunity to learn the skills to build and create new things.  My heart swells with pride, and aches for my son, but knowing that I had a part in helping shape you, and that you now travel far and wide, gives me a sense of accomplishment.
What if my only success in life was to inspire you?
To show you possibilities.
To help you prepare to fly, and guide you as you take off.
What if my success was in being one person who was able to shape and mold you into the woman you are becoming?  Would it be worth it?
 Absolutely.

From birth you have had passion and drive.  You are always pushing to be in the next stage of your life.  You are driven to set goals, make plans, and prepare a successful future for yourself.  As you prepare to travel to Africa I hold onto your flight gear, and help you maintain a steady approach on the run way.  I know that soon you will take off, and that once you do you will never come home.  At least not the same.  Not as my little girl.
What if my only success in life was to inspire you.
To prepare you for a great future.
To nurture and love you, and watch you grow.
We still have time together.  A time where I can give you a vision for life, a view of possibilities, and hope for opportunity.
What if my only success in life is not mine, but yours?  What if my blog doesn’t take off, my business fails, I never travel to my preferred destinations, or realize my dreams?  Will it be worth it?  It will be, if you accomplish yours.  What good is my success if it does not inspire yours.  Perhaps my actions will inspire you to do great things, and when that happens, then I have realized the only success truly worth having.
Take risks.
Fear nothing.
And remember, that there are always possibilities, always opportunities, and that within you is everything you need to live an extraordinary life.
Love,
Mom
